Take 2....the backstory Empty Take 2....the backstory

Post  Joseph Mon Jun 24, 2013 10:40 am

Antares Voss would not have seemed anything special to anyone in the galaxy had they met him in his formative years. While his life was not particularly harsh, it was not the life of the elite either. His parents were working class people and he was raised with similar values and goals for his own life. That simple life was not the one he would ultimately end up leading however.

When it happened no one was exactly sure, but at some point in his life Antares developed a deep hatred of those who were not like him. Aliens of all sorts, their color did not matter, only that they were no human like he was. It was this hatred that fueled Antares rise to power in the galaxy. Hatred is such a powerful tool and he used that tool to build an Empire.

In his late twenties Antares was elected to join the senate, representing his home planet and replacing a long time family friend who had elected to retire. Antares knew the main reason he won election was due to the retired senators endless support and campaigning on his behalf, but he accepted the post with great pride, knowing he could do much good for his planet, Rendili.

Many suspect that it was Rendili's long standing fued with neighboring planet Duro that created Antares hatred of alien species. For years a border war raged between the two as they struggled for control of space trade in the area as well as the right to police the space lanes. Corellia would normally be the big player, but their third neighbor was busy with other endeavors and had not time to deal with its two lesser neighbors.

As his years in the senate passed though, Antares managed to quell many skirmished between planets making himself seem more and more useful to the galaxy because he had succeeded where those before him had failed miserably. He had an elegance, and a charm that allowed him to gain the trust of those around him, even aliens as much as he might despise them secretly. To that end he also took the opportunity to not only move himself up the ranks of the senate, joining several committees and being appointed to several others, but he also took the opportunities to engage planets to plant the seeds of distrust. Distrust not only of aliens, but alien distrust of neighboring planets. It was the subterfuge that created skirmishes and civil wars that he could follow up and squash out with his negotiating skills.

The way he managed personalities and set planet against planet covertly only to come in and broker peace publically brightened his star.

Take 2....the backstory Empty An Empire Rises

Post  Joseph Mon Jul 01, 2013 9:15 am

Antares Voss is a name that is viewed by some with contempt and by others yet with great reverence. The Emperor of the galaxy, or at least the majority of it, is quite a polarizing figure. His Empire divides a galaxy in the minds of some, while it fights to perfect it in the eyes of others.

It wasn't always that way however, no, it’s quite the interesting tale how it came to pass.

Some fifty years ago Antares was born on a tiny planet near Hutt Space known as Aduba III. It was a planet barren of much in the way of green space, mostly deserts and plains. The Spartan and vile nature of the planet fueled Antares desire to leave, to become someone himself, someone more than the smugglers and spacers that seemed to ooze from every pore of the planet. He tried his hand at various things, but ultimately his natural born charm and charisma made him a natural for politics.

The political game was a difficult one as well though, and charm only carried him so far. He needed help. He needed credits, and credits were one thing the Hutts had plenty of to spare. Antares despised alien creatures, preferring the purity of human or at least near human species, but the opportunity to become a senator was too good to pass up. The Hutts backed his senate bid in exchange for certain rights to Aduba III and it worked, he was elected, and before he knew it he was a member of the Senate of the Republic.

After a few years of learning his way, he was in the unique position of being named Aide de Camp to the Vice Chair, Rol Wyn, a fellow charismatic leader of just a few years his senior.

Upon entering his 10th year in the Senate it was announced that the Chancellor would be retiring upon the end of his term and Antares saw his chance. His chance to gain power over the galaxy and not be the nobody he was growing up. At the same time he could rid the galaxy of these Jedi who seemed to get all the glory instead of people like him who did the hard work and made the tough decisions day in and day out. The vile accursed Jedi.

The galaxy had recently gone to war as the Confederacy of Independent Systems had begun to encroach upon the trade routes of the Republic. An area known as the Borderlands had popped up between Republic space and CIS space that served as a battlefield between the two warring groups. Antares saw this as an opportunity to expand the Republic by increasing the military. Only he did not have the power to do so, so he had to become Chancellor to achieve the increased military presence he wanted. With Wyn a sure lock to take the role of Chancellor soon, he needed to act fast, and act fast he did. Antares had contacts within an organization known as Black Sun, in particular its leader Plo Raseri, and he used them to stage the ultimate political coup.

Black Sun operatives were allowed access to the Chancellors quarters where he was assassinated, assassinated using a light saber. Assassinated just as Vice Chair Rol Wyn arrived. Assassinated on holo-cam in such a vile and vicious way and assassinated so that it appeared that Rol was involved.

In one fell swoop Antares had removed the Chancellor and Vice Chair, leaving him as leader of the Republic, though short lived as it would be. In that same swift stroke he had painted the Jedi as killers and enemies of the entire known galaxy.

The Black Sun operatives involved in the assassination were also a mix of alien species, which played right into his final point, an anti-alien agenda he wanted to spread across the galaxy.

Upon release of the holo vid to the galaxy an uproar against Jedi, against aliens, and against Vice Chair Rol, and the charisma of Antares came to the surface again. He gave speeches, he made public appearances, and he called for the heads of each and every Jedi. The entire Order was forced to flee Coruscant, heading for, of all places, the CIS.....

Take 2....the backstory Empty Re: Take 2....the backstory

Vice Chair Rol Wyn, framed for murder along with several Jedi, was freed from his imprisonment and certain death by an elite team of Jedi and loyal Republic Commandos. Rol Wyn fled Coruscant and the core ward systems alongside the Jedi and loyal Senators and military personnel including Senator Emelie Alise.

The deposed Republic quickly and quietly roamed several systems attempting to gain loyalty against the Empire. Much of the Empire's propaganda filled the Galaxy core ward. Although the Imperial anti-alien tendencies plagued many systems, fear ran rampant and the Republic expatriates were forced to the outer realms of the Galaxy where a pro-alien and anti-Imperial agenda were more readily welcomed.

The remaining Jedi, few in number after a massive hunt, set out in hopes of reconciling with any Jedi stranded in the Galaxy. The battles against the Empire had left even the High Council's numbers dwindling. Grand Master NEED NAME and masters NEED NAME and NEED NAME advised Rol Wyn to establish a headquarters so that the Jedi and Republic can attempt to rebuild and make a stand against the Empire.

The Republic began to rebuild on Cerea under Rol Wyn's supervision. Senators and military leaders worked hand in hand to establish a firm settlement to reestablish connection with Republic worlds. But the coming war with the Empire overshadows all. Their only choice is to align with as many as possible, even if it meant trusting former enemies and criminals. Rol Wyn has no choice but to reach out to the Hutts and Confederacy...

The Hutt Kadijics over the last decades have fallen under the order of the twins, Velo and Bogo Jahitirue. The twins inherited their family’s vast fortune by controlling various worlds water supply. Their influence grew with their establishments on new worlds, allowing many senators within the Republic to come under their power, one former Senator being Antares Voss prior to his coup to take control and leave the leash of the Hutt. With the new Empire's unspoken constraints on alien life forms, the Hutt's find themselves on the outs; especially with the Senate being disbanded. Velo and Bogo's influence wanes in the inner rim of the galaxy, but solidifies more so around traditional Hutt Space. With the Republic Rebellion in need of supplies and equipment they have little places to turn besides the Hutts. Many within the Rebellion find the alliance appalling, but understand the necessity, this of course makes for very uncomfortable bedfellows.

The Confederacy of Independent Systems arose from a need and belief that planets and systems should reserve the right to more power than a centralized government like the old Republic and current Empire. Senator Qal of Kiffex agreed with many of his fellow senators and as demands were not met, many systems moved to secede from the increasingly corrupt old Republic. Many senators on the secession ballot were assassinated, including Senator Qal. The senator's daughter, Illa Qal, a member of Kiffex's governing council took up her father's work alongside former senators now withdrawn from the Republic. Upon secession war is imminent and the Republic and the Confederacy wage war across the Galaxy on various planets and systems. The war however is cut short with the chancellor's assassination and the fall of the Republic. With much of the former government on the run, the Confederacy is in a unique position to align with those who previously shunned them.

Only together can these rebels against the Empire survive...
